TIPE/RPII Initiative Takes Off

TIPE and the RPII are working closely together on a project to increase the number of RPII Inflatable Play Inspectors.

TIPE has 11 would be RPII inspectors attending the RPII training day on 26th November and has arranged with the RPII for a second training day in December to accommodate further numbers.

TIPE team spokesperson said, "One of the concerns with testing for bouncy castle operators is the amount of travelling they need to do to get to a suitably qualified tester. This initiative is aimed at getting a wider geographical spread of inspectors. Our initial response has been exceptionally good with trainee inspectors being located in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Yorkshire, Norfolk, Surrey, Midlands and Cambridgeshire. We hope to widen the net in the coming months.

Our mission is to make testing to BS EN 14960:2006 far more accessable thus raising the standards within the industry. There is little doubt that since the introduction of BS EN 14960:2006 the public awareness has increased with more and more bookers requiring PIPA tested units for their events. Most manufacturers are now building to this standard."

Inflatable play devices (bouncy castles etc) require an annual test in order to conform to PUWER regulations and HASAWA
